Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Heavy Loads: Up to 5,000 lbs of Load-Leveling Support

When you hook up a heavy trailer or pack the bed full, rear-end sag can throw off handling and braking. The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs add up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity to keep your vehicle level front to back. This setup helps your suspension carry the weight evenly across all four wheels, improving steering control, braking response, and headlight aim so you can tow or haul with confidence.

Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air spring with protective roll plates for enhanced durability and even load distribution

Ride Smooth and Controlled: Internal Jounce Springs for Comfort and Stability

Rough roads and uneven loads don’t have to mean bounce and sway. Each air spring has a closed-cell urethane jounce inside that acts as an overload spring when air pressure runs low. These internal jounces engage progressively as the load increases, helping absorb bumps and road shock while reducing sway and bottoming out. The result is a more stable, comfortable ride whether you’re fully loaded or running light.

Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air spring cutaway showing internal urethane jounce spring for improved ride comfort and load stability

Fine-Tune Your Setup for Every Trip: Adjustable from 5 psi to 100 psi

Every job or haul is different, so your suspension should adapt to match. These air springs adjust anywhere from 5 psi to 100 psi, giving you the freedom to dial in firmness for towing or drop it down for daily driving. Manual inflation valves and air lines are included for easy access at the bumper, and the system can be upgraded later with an on-board compressor and gauges if you want in-cab adjustments.

Built Tough for Long-Term Reliability: Reinforced Design with Corrosion-Resistant Materials

The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate system is built to last with 2-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber air springs protected by Air Lift’s exclusive upper and lower roll plates. High-strength Zytel nylon endcaps are lighter, stronger, and more corrosion resistant than steel, guarding against rust or puncture points that can cause leaks. Urethane jounces need no maintenance and perform reliably in hot or cold temperatures, so you can count on consistent support season after season.

Simple DIY Setup: Bolt-On Brackets and Included Hardware

Installing real load support shouldn’t mean a full shop day. This kit includes the mounting brackets, hardware, air lines, and manual inflation valves you need to get it done with basic tools. Once everything’s bolted up, inflate the springs through the valves and you’re ready to go. It’s a straightforward setup that makes it easy to upgrade your suspension right in your own driveway.

Instructor Today we're gonna be taking a look at Air Lifts line of LoadLifter 5,000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with internal jounce bumpers. These bags are specifically designed for three quarter and one ton trucks and motor homes, you're big heavy dogs here. These bags are a custom fit for your particular truck so you want to use our fit guide to ensure you get the appropriate hardware and brackets to install them. To show off our airbags, we're going to add about a thousand pounds of water weight to the back of our truck. We're working with a Chevy Silverado 3,500 today, but the principles are the same regardless of your vehicle. Having your vehicle loaded down like this, bringing the back down and the front up, changes the geometry of your suspension, and it also changes the way weight is loaded onto your front brakes.

So this causes poor handling, as well as poor braking performance. By adding air bags into the back of our vehicle, we can raise the back of our vehicle back up, and that's also gonna help restore the suspension closer to that factory ride height as well. That's gonna give us better contact on the road with our tires so they don't wear excessively fast, it's gonna increase our handling because we're going to have better contact to the road, and with it level back up here at the front again, our weight's gonna properly transition onto the front brakes restoring a lot of that loss breaking performance. Another added benefit is by bringing the back of our vehicle back up, we're picking our headlights that we're pointed up towards the sky and bringing them back down on the road, so we we're able to see better at night as well. And here we can see our airbags installed.

They're going to sit between the axle and the frame of your vehicle, and they'll provide up to 5,000 pounds of leveling support. Now this doesn't increase the amount of weight that you can carry with your vehicle, that's just how much these can help to support and lift your vehicle back up to restore that lost ride height that you had from being weighed down. Inside of our airbag here, there's a jounce bumper, and what that does for us is in the event that we've got it so loaded up and we hit a really big bump, and our axle moves up. If it we're to go up so far, it could contact the internal jounce bumper and that's going to prevent any metal on metal contact, And it's also going to save our bag from any potential damage. This is mostly for when you get really heavily loaded, really pushing it, getting close to the maximum load limit of your vehicle, that jounce bumper can really come in handy when you're maybe doing some good speeds and you hit a pretty big pothole or something like that, that could save you and your vehicle from any issues.

To further increase the structural integrity of our bag, there's roll plates on the top and bottom, so as our vehicle goes to sway to the left or to the right, when we're making invasive maneuvers or just regular turns, the bag as it wants to lean to one side of the other, from that sway can contact on the roll plate here, and that'll provide it with additional support to ensure that our bags stay in place doing their job. The double convoluted design will help increase the structural integrity of our bag. It gives it a higher burst pressure by displacing the air as necessary as it moves up and down. And to further ensure the durability of our gags, they're constructed of a two ply fabric reinforced rubber, and they're very durable here. They have a increased size on that internal jounce bumper as well.

The urethane bumper is a little bit taller so it'll contact a little bit sooner, and that's really nice if you maybe haven't adjusted your air pressure quite yet, either. Maybe you've loaded it up and it's still a little bit lower pressure, that jounce bumper is always gonna be in there to provide contact, and then if you find that, hey, you're hitting that jounce bumper, it's a little stiff, you can up the air pressure a little bit to help bring that away and get the best ride quality, as well as the best support. You also receive a heat shield in your kit, this is gonna further protect your bag from any excessively hot sources, such as your exhaust here. You'll receive clamps with it and everything, so that makes it nice and easy to get that installed, and it's very easy to position it and however you need to for your particular exhaust system. So it's nice, even if you upgrade your exhaust system, you'll still be able to use something like this. Included with your kit, you're gonna receive airlines and all the hardware you need to get it installed. You'll receive two air fittings so that way you can inflate each bag independently from one another. This is nice if you're trying to correct any uneven loads, but really in most cases, when you're loading down your truck, you typically want to load both of your bags the same to just bring that support back up and level your truck back out, and in those instances, the easiest way to do it will be to install a compressor on your vehicle. On this vehicle, we've installed Air Lift's WirelessONE compressor, and this is one of the easiest compressors to install. It's completely wireless and you can operate it with your phone, so you don't have to worry about losing any kind of device when you're trying to inflate it. And you don't even have to get out of your truck to inflate it. So you could pull up to a place and have somebody drop a pallet in the back of your truck, adjust the pressure on your phone and take off. The operating range of our bags is between five and a hundred PSI. Five pounds is when we're just normal driving around, completely unloaded. It is important to have five pounds in there because as your suspension moves up and down, it can create a small vacuum in there if you don't have any pressure, so we just keep that five pounds in there. And then for your heaviest loads, we can go up to all the way to a hundred pounds to provide that support. Just wanna keep in mind that up at those higher pressures it does get pretty stiff, and in most cases, about 40 to 50 pounds is gonna probably be sufficient. And that completes our look at Air Lift's line of their LoadLifter 5,000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with internal jounce bumpers..

just installed loadlifter 5000 in driveway was easy enough with help of video and instructions. Only drawback was losing a clip inside the truck frame. Maybe including some extra hardware would be nice for us non mechanics. Would have given 5 star but have not hooked my trailer up to truck yet

by:

I'm really happy with my purchase and am glad I purchased it here. Customer care was knowledgable, helpful, quick and friendly. Shipping was super fast. I couldn't be happier!

by:

This product was fairly easy to install. The biggest problem I faced was a suspension bracket on my passenger side next to wear I installed that airbag. It was not mentioned in the video instructions. I really struggled getting my tools and hands on such a tight spot. After an hour, everything was ready to roll.

by:

These airbags definitely give me a much better ride due to Toyota using coil springs in the rear. I would have given them 5 starts but one of the airbags inset thread was damaged and I was lucky enough to have the right tap. It wasn't noticed till I had my truck on the lift and the first bag installed. If i wasn't able to do that I would have had to uninstall the first bag and wait for a replacement. I understand these things happen but check your parts thoroughly before installing. I would purchase these bags again if needed.

by:

Installed on a 2024 GMC Sierra Crew SLT with rear poly mono springs. This worked great and the install was easy. It took me about 2.5 hours on a 4 post lift, but you could do it in the driveway if you needed to. I reached out to airlift to make sure it would work on a vehicle with mono-springs and they were not 100 percent sure if it would. So I took a chance and it worked flawlessly!

by:

Video and instructions being the same would be helpful. Ended up having to remove wire harness brackets on axle and remove tabs to clear air bags. Air bags improved drive ability greatly when pulling camper.

by:

2021 Ram 2500 install was easy, it took a while to run the airlines. I pull a 5th wheel camper 700 miles each trip, the air bags eliminated the side by side roll and keeps the bed level. So far I am very satisfied with the results. When I am not pulling a trailer I lower the air bags to 10lbs for a better ride.

by:

I explained the size/weight of the load I carry in my duallie. A 5000lb slide in camper and a 28' twin engine jet boat. These bags are probably great for their respective load, but I was convinced by the sales team at etrailer that these would be sufficient. They aren't. I can put 100lbs of air (the max) in and truck still sags. Should have gone with the 7500 lb bags.

by:

These bags have been great! I installed them, along with the compressor, on my 2024 Tundra. I pull a 6k lb camper and was getting about 3” of squat. I run 45 lbs in them and it reduced the squat to only about 1”. Great price to fix my problem.

by:

works very well. i installed them on a 2012 Ford F-150 towing a Grand Design 2600 RB. the airbags substantially helped cut down the bouncing when going over big bumps, bridge decks, etc. also helps with the side winds. very happy with set up.

by:

I installed these on my Tundra and did the install myself. Easy to install. The video's on the website are helpful as well as searching on youtube for more videos. I use these for towing our travel trailer. They work great for inflating and leveling the truck and trailer. I would buy again if my next truck did not have them installed.

by:

Easy install thanks to a Great Video & decent paper instructions. I installed them using a single line for air compression. Extremely pleased with the performance & quality. Will be ordering the "Wireless One" onboard compressor shortly to complete the project! Great job, folks!!

by:

etrailer delivered these in four days which was a pleasant surprise. The Load Lifter 5000 were easy to install and all of the parts fit perfectly. The installation instructions were spot on as well. I tried to save a little time by leaving the wheels mounted, that turned out to be a mistake, so I removed the wheels mounted on the second side and saved about 45 minutes. The loadlifters perform exactly how I want. They took all of the sway out of my tundra while hauling my truck camper.

by:

Deliver was awesome, installation was a little more complicated than expected but had installed big wig sway bar and torklift lower wedges added some unexpected fitment modifications but I can say has delivered results I wanted.

by:

I run an arctic fox 811 on a f350 single wheel, and these have been a game changer, no issues and helps that ride quality with the weight of the truck bed camper in the back. Having the air chucks in the fuel door is a recommendation I would recommend to anyone going without a on board air compressor

by:

The truck rides much better now, though I haven’t yet towed with the air bags yet. The bags took out that annoying side to side movement.
Just great!
Easy to install.

VERY GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION!

I have
a 2020 Sierra 1500 AT4. I have the back loaded with a DECKED drawer system full of tools, plus all my gear in tubs for investigating fire scenes. My amazing pickup was nearly riding the bump stops all day. On a bumpy road, it was pretty taxing. Off-road was brutal. After some research I found this kit to fit my AT4 truck, part #88388.

You will need tall jack stands for this project. We ended up bracing ours on the rear leaf spring perches due to exhaust routing.

This is a brand new install, so time will tell as to how it holds up, but I have high expectations. This kit comes with paper instructions that are pretty spot-on. The pictures were helpful, and the instructions are detailed enough for a novice to understand. With one extra set of hands, I installed this kit in about 2 hours. I mounted the single fill valve in my gas-fill area, hidden behind the fuel lid. No bending over to add or release pressure.

After the install, I ran the pressure up to 40 psi as recommended. I got about 2 1/2” of lift out of that. I pulled a trailer home from the shop, and my truck rode like brand new. For my daily cargo, I think 40 pounds is just about perfect. And my tailgate is back at belly button height again. My headlights are shining where they should be shining. My bottomed-out ride is now compliant and comfortable.

The parts seem to be quality, and I had zero fitment issues. The only specialty tool was the T40 TORX tip for removing brackets from the axle front. You need it before you start. This kit is an easy install with a basic 3/8” socket set, a couple box end wrenches, and a couple other basic hand tools. This project should not scare too many people away.

Pro tip: You may think you can do it without taking off the tires. DON’T!! You’ll be pissed off at your truck and anyone nearby. The time savings will be worth it.

Also, the parking brake is on the back axle. Chock the front tires and/or put your rig in 4 low before lifting the back end.

Overall I am very pleased with the LoadLifter 5000. I purchased for a 2017 Tundra 1794 which we pull a 26' travel trailer. Prior to purchase the truck & trailer had a noticeable sag and it was challenging to distribute the weight in the trailer to reduce the sag. With the LL5000 the sag is eliminated with around 40 psi and the overall feel of the truck & trailer was much more solid and less bouncy when going over rough roads. Also, I was able to haul some lumber several times were the load was around 1,700 lbs which was 600 lbs over the stock capacity of the Tundra of 1,100 lbs...this was done with 60 psi. The LL5000 really showed their performance there with no sag with this load. The only reason I give a 4 out of 5 stars is the drive performance when not carrying a load or towing the trailer. Unfortunately the drive is not as smooth as the stock configuration. I've tried adjusting the pressure from 0 psi thru 30 psi in intervals of 5 psi and unfortunately there's some added bumpiness no matter which psi is selected. Overall, at around 10psi that seems to be the best ride but again, not the smoothness of the stock configuration. But if you're needing to eliminate sag with a trailer or boost your haul capacity, the LL5000 will definitely satisfy those needs.

by:

The AirLift 5000 work great. The installation brackets didn't work for my Toyota RV & I had to fabricate the ones that'd mount to the frame. Otherwise, awesome improvement to the stability & ride.

by:

Incredible difference! Even with a weight distribution hitch i couldn’t get my toyhauler and tundra level. The internal jounce alone raised my hitch several inches but with air, Wow! Also note, you CAN keep the RAS helper springs installed. You just have to pry a little when installing the U-bolts.

by:

I did the installation myself with auto ramps and a bottle jack. The instructions were good, however, some of the pictures were dark and hard to see. At 60 PSI and no load the truck rides like it has no shocks so I have been running 10 PSI and it seems to be great. 2015 F250 4x2 ext cab. I drilled the TAG screws and install the air fill ports in there place.

by:

I purchased a set of these airbags for my old truck from etrailer and ran them for 17 years pulling a 42’ fifth wheel without any problems. So there was no hesitation for me to order the same for my new truck. I looked up everything I needed up on the etrailers site and called Josh at etrailer and he verified what I needed and got it on order. Also he verified my onboard compressor would work with the new air bags. Everything was received in a few days as usual. The airbags came with very good instructions and were no trouble to install and installation went quickly and have been preforming great. etrailer is always my go too for my truck and camper parts, also the bonus is if you have any problems or questions you can call etrailer and talk to a real person and get any problems corrected. etrailer for the win.

by:

Great instructions and easy installation! Fit perfectly! Loaded my tractor to test them out and they completely leveled my sagging truck with 42psi.

One year later and I am still happy with this product. Using these to level and stop any sway of my F250 Super Duty with my slide in 4,500 pound Lance truck camper. Truck and camper does not sway at all even in extreme side winds traveling through Wyoming. Did a lot of remote camping down back country dirt and gravel roads and the vehicle felt stable and secure on these unimproved roads. Still maintaining the same air pressure in the bags from when I set them before a 2 month camping trip over 8 months ago. I was led to believe they would loose air pressure over time but that is not the case as the vehicle remains level and stable after months of being parked waiting for the next adventure. I even installed them myself which was actually pretty easy especially with all the installation videos etrailer provides. This is a must have for anyone who has a full size camper like my Lance 1030 in the back of their truck.
